A little backstory is probably necessary here before I "deliver the blow."
Being a lifelong lover of music, I grew up with Glen Campbell. Always been a sucker for a good ballad! Too many memories there to decipher. Too many good ones in there to process in a single blog. “Galveston”, “By the Time I Get to Phoenix”, “Wichita Lineman” certainly come to mind. My, what Glen Campbell could do with a Jimmy Webb penned tune! And, if my Mom were still here with us (she is and thank you Jay Rifenbary), she'd tell you with a wry smile, that "Glen could park his horse outside her stoop anytime!"
As you may have heard or seen recently, Glen Campbell is 81 years young and in the latter stages of Alzheimer’s. (As a quick aside, there may be nothing that scares me more than that one!). Rob a person of their physical capacities is indignity enough; mental capacity and my ability to process brings things in at a whole new level.
I hope that like me, you love a good tune. I leave you with this—Glen’s final gift to the world.
